The gym at Wenzhou-Kean University which is located on the first floor of the sports hall was scheduled to move to the stadium in October 2022, to coincide with the opening of the swimming pool, however, this plan has been canceled.
This plan was decided by Sida Zhu, the senior staff in the sports team and the builder of the gym. Zhu had prepared to add more fitness equipment to the new gym after doing a survey via WeChat on which kind of equipment should be added. Nonetheless, it was canceled because of several reasons.
"We were going to move the gym to the stadium so that a table tennis gym can be built there," one of the members of the sports team, Xiaochang Liu said, "however, after observation and investigation, we found that the people who liked working out were much more than the people who liked ping pong. Thus, we canceled the plan."

Another reason why the gym is not going to move is that the new site of the gym is underground which is on the basement level of the stadium. "If the gym is built under the ground, it will cause a problem of poor ventilation," Liu said, "people who work out in such a gym may lack oxygen, which is a situation we do not want to happen."
Before the news of the plan’s cancellation, the change of the gym’s location also caused discontent among the students who have the habit of working out at the gym. "It's not a good decision," A freshman who goes to the gym twice a day, Shanci Wang said, "it will be smaller and further from my dormitory." Wang added, "I know walking to the gym is also a kind of exercise but I don't like it." The dissatisfaction from students is also a reason to cancel the plan.

In the future, although the gym will not be moved, the equipment purchased for the move will still be added to the present gym, such as new weight plates and a new squat rack. This will better meet the students' fitness needs.
